Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of this site?

Simple! To upload and share games from GOG.com.

Is there an easier way to download?

It is highly advised to use a download manager to simplify the process of downloading. If you are going to visit a file hosting site in your browser, please use an ad blocker and be extremely cautious of possible fake download buttons, do not run any executable files that download, etc.

What download manager or ad blocker do you recommend?

JDownloader 2 is a download manager that covers a wide variety of sites and is free. For ad blockers, uBlock Origin is the go to.

What are these RAR files and what do I do with them?

They are an archive file format and you need to use a program to extract the contents. 7-Zip or WinRAR can accomplish this. If there are multiple parts, you only need to begin the extraction process on the first part of the archive. You may delete the RAR files after the extracting the contents.

Can Mac and Linux games be uploaded too?

No, there is no interest in archiving for other operating systems. This would also add even more cost and time to maintain.

My antivirus software is reporting I downloaded malware!?

Please make sure you did not download a fake and malicious file. All files are packaged into RAR archives. Once extracted, you will now have executable file(s) which allow you to install the game. These are never tampered or modified and what you receive if you purchased the game.

How can I verify if the executable is authentic?

Each installer has a digital signature and certificate which you can check yourself to see if it is valid. To do this, right click on the executable and select properties. Click the Digital Signatures tab. Select the signature in the list and then click the Details button. The signer should read: "GOG Sp. z o.o." (older installers may have a different name). Finally, click the View Certificate button and verify is it intact. Please note that some very old game installers may not have a signature. One example is Colin McRae Rally 2005.

How are download links prevented from expiring?

All games are available to be voted on for a re-upload 60 days after they were last uploaded to guard against dead links.

Where are the torrents?

Click the MORE button and if a torrent is available, an option named torrent will be listed. It is a BitTorrent magnet link with a few trackers.

What torrent client should I be using?

qBittorrent, Deluge or Transmission.

A game was updated over 60 days ago, but why can't I vote on it?

This is the date when a game was last updated (i.e. game files changed or additional content added). The last upload is a different field in the database, and that is what is checked to determine if voting is eligible to happen.

Do re-uploads provide the lastest version of the game?

No, it is called a "re-upload" for a reason.

Can I make requests to upload a new game?

No, requests are ignored and disregarded.

What criteria can be used in the search bar?

Game title, publisher and developer can be used. If you typed "Bethesda" into the search bar it will give you results of games from them.

What technology does this site use?

The site was built with Laravel and React. The search and sorting functionality is made possible by Meilisearch. Documentation is created with Docusaurus.
